I believe I am correct about DL posters who habitually watch and complain about SNL. The writing is terrible, there is literally no talent on stage and the musical guests lip sync more often than not. But you can never go home again and the show has been unwatchable since the 2008 elections, and not much good for the 10 years before that. I watched SNL last night to see what they would say about Jan Hooks. No delusional Xray tech, or nursing home attendant pretending to be in med school should be giving out medical advice and posing as a doctor on the internet. Both of my parents are doctors, so I cannot stand VOTN, who is a fake and a liar. I am almost 50 myself, but not at all sour. Sooner or later, you're going to start yawning yourself. He should take note, playing apathetic and boring ultimately results in an apathetic and bored audience. That would be OK if you got the sense that he could actually act. But he only plays one character - the fake bad acting actor. I think he's only there because they thought he'd be the next Andy Samberg with the videos. Kyle Mooney on the other hand has to read every one of his lines off a cue card even if he just has one line in the skit. Talented actors can pull this off without being too obvious about it. Sometimes the actors have no idea what lines are going to be until they read them on the cards. I can forgive cue cards because the lines change right up to the seconds before the skit goes live. One thing about Kristen Wiig is that even though she can have a million lines, she rarely looks like she is reading from cue cards. You guys just like him because he's tall and cute. He started just as he finished with the same strident tone. That Hozier guy needs to learn a thing about phrasing and storytelling while you sing a song. Stefon was funny,Īnd if you like Hozier you are just lame beyond belief. The puppet sketch was very funny last night and worth watching if you haven't seen it.
Maybe she suffers from Casey Wilson syndrome - funny everywhere else except SNL. How in the world could she be the best and funniest? Maybe she was just the skinniest. She is SO one note and I feel like I'm watching an improv class when she's on. It's sad they are too scared to fire Sasheer Zamata. But Cecily Strong, McKinnon, Killiam and Beyer are talented. This newest of the new cast now sucks now, yes. Some of the strongest years we just went through with Maya, Wiig, Poehler and Fey. The absolute worst, catastrophic years of SNL were in the early 90s post Hooks Hartman, early Sandler. I am convinced after years or reading countless DL threads on SNL, none of you have taste. She is great and isn't afraid to say things that black people say are racist. Leslie Jones should be turned into a featured player at least. Colin and Michael have good chemistry and Michael didn't break at all during Stefon. Pete Davidson wasn't as good last night, but it was great to see him featured again. I thought last night was one of the better episodes in a while, but I love Stefon and the old, racist, blind newscaster, Kristen Wiig's Kathie Lee, especially when she laughs at her own jokes the thing she does with her mouth.
